epdm VS cr softness comparison
EPDM rubber is flexible and soft, and will deflect under an impact. Neoprene is hard and stiff, which means that it will absorb the impact of an object striking it. This means that if an object impacts a car window made with extruded neoprene seal strip, the safety glass will shatter, while if the same force strikes a window made with extruded epdm rubber seal strip, it is likely that only a small dent will appear or no damage at all, but instead the seal strip may break up into pieces, which can then be easily removed from the window frame
epdm vs cr abrasion resistance
Neoprene is a synthetic rubber with low compression set, high tensile strength and good temperature resistance, which makes it ideal as a seal strip. The abrasion resistance of neoprene is lower than that of epdm rubber.
Seal strips are used in many applications where a water barrier is required. Neoprene and EPDM (Extruded polyethylene) rubber seal strips are the most common materials used today. Each have their advantage and disadvantages. The type of seal strip you choose depends on your application, the environment that it will be installed in, and the life expectancy you require.
